It offers a clear medical framework based on (inter)national standards and aligns with the existing Quality Standard for Transgender Care \u2013 Somatic (2018).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Trans Care More Accessible in Primary Care<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increasingly, trans and gender-diverse individuals are approaching their general practitioners with care questions regarding gender-affirming hormone therapy. General practitioners can safely and independently provide this care \u2013 provided they are sufficiently equipped to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This guideline offers clear guidance for:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approach, Decision-Making, and Risk Assessment<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Information Provision and Informed Consent<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feminizing and Masculinizing Hormone Therapy<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pausing or Discontinuing Treatment<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaboration with Other Healthcare Professionals<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reliable Care Close to Home<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many general practitioners already have experience with medications also used in gender care, such as estrogens, testosterone, or anti-androgens.
