Our board members are often active in several of our projects as well. Depending on your skills, this could involve policy, lobbying, speaking, tech dev, or organizing. Together with the other board members, you will work on professionalizing the organization and maintaining partnerships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Chair, you are not just a board member, but also the face of the foundation. Your role also includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_4 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module tieh-list preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chairing board meetings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guiding the direction: does what we do contribute to the mission? And are we taking on too much at once?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being the external face \u2014 to the press, politics, healthcare providers, and partner organizations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keeping an eye on how people are doing, both within the board and beyond<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noticing what isn't getting done and assigning it somewhere<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conducting onboarding, check-in, and exit interviews<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_5 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The external face<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In principle, speaking on behalf of TIEH goes through the Chair. This means visibility with the press, politicians, and healthcare parties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you're not comfortable with that part of the role, that's no reason not to apply. The board can also assign spokesperson duties to another board member or a designated spokesperson. Let us know, and we'll discuss it.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_6 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2>Profile<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_7 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module tieh-list preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Chair with an affinity for our community. Someone who can inspire others and has a good sense of the most tactical move to take the next step toward our goals. But also someone who enjoys collaboration. Board experience is not required: everything you need to know to get started is in our board manual, and we will take the time to train you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, we ask for:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A passion for and commitment to the transgender community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A hands-on mentality and creative thinking skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A strategic mindset.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experience in advocacy, policy development, or project management is a plus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tech-savviness is a plus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Willingness to invest an average of 16 hours per month.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_8 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2>About Trans In Eigen Hand<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_9 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module tieh-list preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trans In Eigen Hand is a small, goal-oriented volunteer organization dedicated to the autonomy of transgender and gender-diverse people in Dutch gender care. We work in front of and behind the scenes to enable gender care based on informed consent, train healthcare workers, and create tools that help transgender people and healthcare providers navigate the complex care system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board meets online once every two months.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_10 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2>What you get in return<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_11 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module tieh-list preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A better world, the joy of working with kind and driven people, and of course, great board experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What you don't get is money. TIEH board members are not paid; however, we do reimburse expenses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no fixed term of office (yet). You stay as long as it fits, and in November and December, the whole board reviews how things are going and who will continue.
